Zero-G Ignition is a highly versatile sci-fi themed cinematic Kontakt instrument and multi-format sample library focussing on the dark cinematic and sci-fi genre, which includes everything from cinematic style dialogue, distorted tones, drones and atmospheric elements.
There is over 1.6GB of brand new material and over 400 individual sounds. The main use of the library is as a Kontakt 6 instrument, which utilises a beautiful interface allowing extensive customisation of the original sounds including filters, LFOs and effects. However there are also Acidized Wavs, Apple Loops, Kontakt 3, EXS24, HALion and NN-XT Instruments.
As a focussed yet diverse collection of atmospheres ranging from harrowing horror to boundless beauty these sounds can create any required emotion. Themes include Ambiences, Textures, Atmospheres, Distorted, Drones FX, Percussive Impacts, Risers, Synth Shots, Transitions and Vocal Dialogue.

Cinematic and sci-fi, either dark or futuristic, is the subject of Zero-G’s new Kontakt-based instrument. Ignition includes everything from drones to atmospheres and dialogues to effect samples. Also available in different audio formats such as Acid WAV, WAV and AIFF, it weighs in at 1.6 GB with about 400 files of sampling material.
Themes or categories include Ambiences and Textures, Background Atmospheres, Distorted, Drones FX, Percussive Impacts, Risers, Synth Shots, Transitional and Vocal Dialogue. The samples are nicely recorded, and the programming is well-designed – very deliciously synthetic, I might add. One thing that the samples have in common is that they have that sci-fi horror flavor.
Given the nature of the samples, this would work in modern cinematic compositions for TV, film, game and trailer music. If you’re looking to add emotion or accent to complete your projects Ignition is just too good to ignore.
Computer Music (9/10)
The whole thing is rolled into a very useable Kontakt engine, but the 400-odd samples are the point, many over 30 seconds long, and all spectacularly evocative.
Sound On Sound (4/5)
Ignition provides plenty of ear-candy sounds, and there is plenty of mileage to be had, especially if you are prepared to get busy with the various sound manipulation options.
