What is Vocaloid software?
VOCALOID is a singing voice synthesis technology developed by Yamaha Corporation. VOCALOID software allows users to input melody and lyrics in order to synthesize a singing voice. In other words, a singing voice can be produced without a human singer by using this technology. Synthesized singing from this tool is produced from Voice/Singer Libraries, which are databases of fragments of voices and phonemes recorded from actual singers. Various voices can be used by changing the Voice/Singer Library. There are lots of musical pieces and works created by users using products with VOCALOID technology, on Youtube and many other types of media. There are more details and information on Vocaloid technology and Yamaha's VOCALOID5 EDITOR here.

Previous versions of the VOCALOID Editor
You can also use VOCALOID2 Voice Libraries (like Prima, Tonio or Sonika) in the VOCALOID4 Editor providing they have first been imported into the VOCALOID3 Editor using the "Library Import Tool".
Please note that the "Library Import Tool" is not included with Yamaha's VOCALOID4 Editor. You have to complete a "Library Import" into the VOCALOID4 Editor (or into the VOCALOID3 Editor**) by using the "Library Import Tool". You can download the Library Import Tool on a PC here. Also, you can use vsq files in VOCALOID4 Editor even if a VOCALOID2 Voice Library is not installed.
Please note: The VOCALOID4 Editor is no longer available to purchase from Yamaha and is no longer supported.
Please note: Avanna only comes with the "Tiny Vocaloid3 Editor" which is a 'lite' version of Vocaloid3 with limited functionality. The full version of the newer Vocaloid5 Editor (which is compatible with Vocaloid3 voices including Avanna) is available from the Yamaha website HERE.
